DRIFTING INTO THE FIVES

After a successful enough test at the Summer Nationals at Santa Pod which resulted in a tyre smoking and shaking pass of 6.01 the decision was made to take the A-fuel car to Finland for the next round of the FIA Championship instead of reverting back to the blown alcohol setup.

Although we knew we still had a long way to go to get the setup right having made only one test pass before, the first three runs in Alastaro really shocked us. It seemed that no matter what we did at the hit of the throttle we smoked the tyres, in fact so much so that after the 3rd run with a number of stabs at the throttle to get it hooked up to no avail, I was accused of abandoning drag racing in favour of “drifting”! But that run showed we were going in the right direction and the next one confirmed it recording a 5.86 full throttle to the finish line.

In the first round after further adjustments we stepped up again to a 5.56 but unfortunately the small amount of damage we sustained prevented us from making the call to the semi final by 5 minutes, so our day stopped there.

We are very encouraged and cannot wait for Mantorp where with the help and support of our great sponsors, Silverline Tools, PlayStation, BMRS, Torco Oil, Crane Cams and IronCad we hope to step up our performance again.
