I bought a 15mm 3/8” drive deep socket for working on a multitude of bicycle jobs (repairs and upgrades) as the trend now for single speed (or “fixies”) is gathering pace and the axles for instance have gone back to good old nuts and not the “QR” (quick release) skewers that have been all the rage on racing bikes for the past 20 years. As many of the new single speed bikes rely on folding up to be carried onto trains etc. Then they make every component as light as possible and the clearance to get to some of these fasteners becomes a problem. This 15mm deep socket has thin walls and is incredibly strong, which is exactly what’s needed to access some vital components like recessed wheel nuts. Cheap sockets won’t clear the frame and won’t drop onto these nuts. I now don’t have to worry. The thin walls are exactly what I need AND the socket is way stronger than any bike part so should last a lifetime now. I’m very very pleased with my purchase and would recommend Silverline to anyone without hesitation.
